Monday Housekeeping – Terce
Daily life at St. Augustine’s House – Terce –
At 8.15 A.M. is the first of the so-called Little Hours. It is named Terce because it is traditionally sung near the third hour of the day according to the Jewish reckoning of time, which for us would be 9 A.M. It includes a hymn and one Psalm, always a portion of Ps. 119 (so that over the course of the week the entire Psalm is sung), a bible verse, Kyrie, and Our Father. It lasts about 10-15 minutes. On Sunday this office is sung at 9 A.M. with Mass at 10 A.M, and on weekdays, the daily Eucharist follows shortly after the end of Terce.
