Saint Augustine, Bishop of Hippo

August 28 – St. Augustine, Bishop of Hippo –

(November 13, 354 – August 28, 430), Bishop of Hippo Regius (present-day Annaba, Algeria). He was a Latin-speaking philosopher and theologian who lived in the Roman Africa Province. His writings were very influential in the development of Western Christianity. He is the patron saint of brewers, printers, theologians, and the alleviation of sore eyes.

This would not ordinarily be observed on a Sunday but at St. Augustine’s House we do because he is our patron.
