Daily Life at St. Augustine’s House – The Holy Eucharist
Every day of the year except Good Friday the Holy Eucharist, or Holy Mass, is celebrated at St. Augustine’s House. Celebrants rotate and sometimes include guest clergy. On a regular weekday the mass includes a sung Kyrie, Gloria if called for, two readings, sung Sanctus and Agnus Dei. A brief homily is often but not always preached on weekdays; always on Sunday. Prayers are offered including requests from friends. On Sundays and Holy Days the mass is celebrated at 10 am and includes more hymns, three readings, Psalm, and Gospel Verse, and Creed. If there is an organist in the house then the organ plays for the hymn (only), and on Sundays on all the hymns. Presently there is a Sunday organist so that liturgy is graced with organ accompaniment.
