August 10 – St. Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr –

He is remembered for his charitable works which ultimately resulted in a death sentence. The story persists that after being placed on a gridiron over a fire, he announced that he was done on one side and should be turned over. He is the patron saint of cooks and comedians.
